What is it about diets that makes us think this time will be different? We tell ourselves, “This time, I’ll lose the weight and keep it off.” And yet, we find ourselves back in the same pattern—an endless treadmill of deprivation and despair. It’s a cycle that so many of us know all too well. We get hooked in to the latest promise of losing our unwanted pounds in a fortnight.
How We Can Break the Cycle
In my latest video, I share my experience of years of being caught in this cycle and what ultimately prompted me to write my book, The Elephant in the Room. Looking through my journals, I realised I've repeated the pattern of weight loss followed by the inevitable regain for many years. It became clear that diets haven't worked for me, and continuing this cycle is not the answer.
