How to Feel Your Feelings

So often we we start feeling a strong emotion, like anxiety, fear or even joy, we don’t feel what that is like in our bodies. Instead our dominant mind takes over and we start to think about whatever inner story is associated with that feeling.

What if we tuned into sensations in the body when we experience strong reactions?

Acknowledging what a feeling actually feels like in the body when we notice how we physically respond, can help us to shift from the story to the sensation.

This exercise is designed to help you come out of your thinking head and into your feeling body by bringing your awareness to how your body responds physically. By using the breath we can allow the feeling to pass without getting caught up in the spiraling narrative that sometimes takes over.

Feelings are fleeting so if we can breathe through them “this too shall pass”.
