Why Women are Worth More Than We Weigh

The Link Between Weight and Self-Worth

Throughout my life, I've noticed how a woman’s weight can often overshadow her abilities and achievements. Research shows that overweight women are frequently paid less than their slimmer counterparts and male colleagues. But for me, this isn't just about numbers and studies—it’s something I've experienced firsthand.

Feeling Self-Conscious

When I was teaching kids' yoga, I often felt self-conscious about my size. I worried that I didn't fit the typical image of a yoga teacher—effortlessly fitting into those form-hugging leggings and striking bendy poses. It was hard not to feel the pressure to slim down just to be taken seriously.

Why This Matters to Me

These experiences were part of what compelled me to write this book. I wanted to explore the complicated relationship many of us have with our bodies and challenge the idea that our worth is tied to how we look. This book isn’t just about diet culture; it's about recognising our true value beyond appearances.
