Release meditation

In today’s world, where women are constantly judged by their size, this meditation is about letting go. Whether it's the judgment from social media or the unrealistic standards we’re held to, these thoughts can weigh us down.

“The heaviest burdens we carry are the thoughts we carry in our head” Rudyard Kipling

Our mind can be the source of much anguish as we ruminate over past experiences and hold on the feelings of failure and shame, especially if we have lost weight previously which we have then regained, often due to societal pressures and size shaming .

Similarly, we may be holding on to feelings about other experiences that are not weight-related but in fact the residual upset, which not only affects our eating habits but also our mental health, leads us to comfort eating.

Letting go of the sensations of suffering, whether from body image pressures or other challenges, can free us to be more receptive to our higher consciousness, our intuition. Recognising that we do no have to carry these burdens any longer may help us to move forward in a more positive way.

I suggest you do this practice when you have some time when you won’t be disturbed for 5 minutes. It can be done seated or if you prefer laying down.

May this practice help you release the weight of society’s expectations and reconnect with your inner strength.
