Mindful breathing
Noticing your breath is essential to mindfulness, and it is usually the very first thing you work on when you learn how to be mindful. Practising mindful breathing regularly can strengthen your ability to stay focused.
I can feel my body start to slow down when I take a slow breath.
I remind myself that I am right here, not wherever my brain is taking me.
You can do this exercise either sitting in a chair or laying down on your bed or on the floor. If you are laying down please have a cushion or pillow to support your head and neck. Make sure you have enough space around you as I cue having the arms slightly away from the sides of the body, so that you can breathe into your armpits and really let the shoulders descend.
Find a spot where you won’t be disturbed for 5 minutes and gently close your eyes.
