Guided body relaxation

Savasana or relaxation pose in yoga, is when we lie down typically at the end of class. Most of the time it is a fleeting pose. Restorative yoga teaches us the benefit of staying in this position for 20 minutes a day.

This guided body relaxation helps you to consciously relax the body by scanning from feet to head, releasing any tension to induce a state of calm and stillness. It starts with a short breathing exercise and then guides you around the body to relax by sending the breath to different parts of the body to release any tension.

Find a quiet space where you won’t be disturbed for 20 minutes. Lie down on your yoga mat, sofa or bed, making sure you have a cushion or pillow to support your head. You may like to put on socks and cover yourself with a blanket. It’s helpful to block the light by shielding your eyes with an eye mask or light scarf.

Relax and allow yourself to just be. Breathe and recharge yourself.
